Police arrest youth president Edavwe, recovers rifles, Others in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested the youth President of Ekpan Community, Victor Edavwe, and recovered an AK-47 rifle including other dangerous weapons.

The suspect was arrested on the 15th of March, 2025 at the Shrine Street following a tip-off that he recently purchased an AK-47 rifle.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Delta State police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, and shared on the command's X account on Thursday.

According to the statement, the DPO of Ekpan division, CSP Aliyu Shaba, swiftly mobilized and led operatives to apprehend the suspect, who was taken to the Police station for questioning.

The suspect corroborated the intelligence earlier gathered and led operatives to the house of one Efe, aka Eteyomo, where a search was conducted. 

“An AK-47 rifle, one single barrel gun, three cutlasses, two daggers, and Forty-four rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition wrapped in a black sack and concealed on the roof of the sitting room were recovered," he said.

The suspects are in custody and the investigation is ongoing, he said.
