Protesters gathered at the gate of the National Assembly as the plenary session resumes, alongside the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions set to hold its hearing on Wednesday.

Multiple social media videos seen by Thewatch Africa shows how protesters were dispersed by police officers using tear gas to maintain public order.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central engaged in a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20 over seating arrangements.

Following the altercation, she was referred to the Senate’s disciplinary panel.

In response, Akpoti-Uduaghan filed a defamation lawsuit against Akpabio, seeking N100 billion in damages.

On Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Senate President Akpabio of defaming and penalising her after she rejected his sexual advances.
