Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, on Wednesday submitted a petition to the Senate, claiming that Senate President Godswill Akpabio sexually harassed her.
Invoking Order 40 of the Senate Rules, Akpoti-Uduaghan stated that while she had previously made the allegations in a national television interview, she was now officially presenting them before the Senate.
In response, Akpabio instructed her to proceed with the formal submission of the petition.
A video shared by AIT shows the moment Natasha arrived at the Senate Chamber on Wednesday alongside her husband as plenary resumed following a one-week recess.
In a fleeting but tender moment, her husband kissed her gently before she walked into the chamber to take her seat.
Her newly assigned seat has been at the center of a heated controversy, sparking tensions within the Senate.
The dispute escalated after Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment—an allegation he has strongly denied.
The claims have ignited fresh concerns over decorum and conduct within the legislative body.
