Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Enugu Zonal Command have arrested thirty-six suspected internet fraudsters at different locations of Onitsha, Anambra State.
The suspects were arrested on October 11, 2024 following actionable intelligence linking them with suspected online criminal activities.
This was disclosed in a statement by the EFCC and shared on its Facebook page on Wednesday.
According to the statement, investigations showed that the suspects impersonated foreign nationals using social media platforms to defraud unsuspecting victims.
Items recovered from them include eight luxury vehicles, sophisticated brands of mobile phones and laptops.
The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
