Popular Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, also called Basketmouth, has engaged his new wife nearly two years after his 12-year marriage to Elsie Okpocha ended.
Taking to his Instagram account on Thursday, Basketmouth shared a 13-second long video featuring himself and a woman identified as Victoria Eze, with the caption, "About to step into the next chapter of my life.”
The announcement has since spark attention, curiosity about his relationship status.
Thewatch Africa discovered that Victoria Eze did not post about the engagement and her bio reads, “Writer; TV Host; StoryTeller; Masterpiece; Work in Progress….. Simultaneously.”
In December 2022, the father of three who hails from Abia State publicly announced his split from Elsie his ex wife.
Since his post went viral, his fans have taken to social media to react.
An X user, identified as #JohnnyJustCome wrote,
“I can bet that the announcement is a promotion for either show or something 😂😂”
Another, popular co-comedian, #OkeBakassi posted, “Congratulations, bro. We are ready 🔥🔥”
#YawNaija said, “Congrats Eze gburugburu🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥at last”
Another X.com user #lifeofhunpiya react, “As the Master of Adverts that you are, I am skeptical about this post 🤔.”
Basketmouth had in September 2023, celebrated Elsie’s 44th birthday anniversary but failed to celebrate their annual wedding anniversary, which usually comes up in November.
Then, Basketmouth wrote, “As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation.
“After much deliberations, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.
“As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance and support they need.
“We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. Thank you,” he said.
He had in a 2021 interview disclosed that he met Elsie while promoting his first show back then, at the University of Lagos.
