How NLC president was arrested by armed policemen in Owerri

The president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajero, was picked by armed security operatives at the ongoing protest in Owerri, the capital of Imo state.

The Head of Information, NLC, Benson Upah, revealed that Ajaero was picked up at the state secretariat of the congress and taken to an unknown location.

NLC disclosed this in a press statement share on its X handle on Wednesday.

The tweet read, “THE PRESIDENT OF THE NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS (NLC); COMRADE JOE AJAERO HAS BEEN ABDUCTED BY HOPE UZODIMMA AND THE IMO STATE POLICE COMMISSIONER”.

THEWATCH AFRICA had reported that the NLC had earlier vowed to mobilise its members for a total strike in Imo state starting Today, November 1, 2023.
